CSAO
Embroideries and words of love.

The CSAO (Company of Senegal and West Africa) was created in 1996 by Valérie Schlumberger. Valérie Schlumberger moved to Senegal at the age of 16 with her young ethnologist husband. Three years and three children later, she created a clothing workshop in Dakar and opened a boutique on the island of Gorée dedicated to her line of clothing. One thing led to another, she met many dressmakers, dyers, embroiderers, weavers, as well as tinsmiths, carpenters, potters, painters, whose know-how amazed her. Ten years later, Valérie returns to live in Paris and opens her first Parisian boutique. His goal ? Disseminate in France and Europe the fruit of the work of the best craftsmen and artists of West Africa while building lasting and fair links with each of them. Since 2012, Ondine Saglio, one of Valérie's daughters, has joined the adventure. In agreement with the craftsmen, she develops cushions, bags and various accessories. Ondine has been able to revalorize noble ancestral traditions such as embroidery. By organizing embroidery workshops, she has enabled the training of around 150 women who can now support their families with a regular income. They have the opportunity to work at home to watch over their kids, or in the workshop where they have the opportunity to socialize, discuss, communicate and laugh while meeting their classmates and the workers. Distributed by the CSAO within its shop or thanks to renowned collaborations such as Bonpoint, Sézane, Christian Louboutin, Le Bon Marché, the work of the embroiderers is thus valued which brings them a lot of satisfaction. This is what ASAO and CSAO have wanted and supported since the beginning of their existence.
